"Someone walked into my house and took my friend and did God knows what with her," Brianna’s friend told People. "It seems unreal."
Tests were conducted on DNA samples obtained from the location where Brianna disappeared, and the preliminary results matched the DNA taken from a Reno woman who had been raped in December 2007. A month before that incident, a man groped a UNR coed and left behind similar DNA. Police investigating an October 2007 attack of another female UNR student who was raped at gunpoint are attempting to determine if that attack is related to the others and, of course, Brianna’s murder. The cops are also looking at the timing of the attacks, which have all happened between the 13th and 22nd of the months in question.
According to an MSNBC report, Johns said the sketchy description of their suspect is that he is a white male, between 28- and 40-years-old, at least 5 feet 6 inches tall, with an elongated face and brown hair. Johns said that the suspect has no regional accent or dialect, and that because of his familiarity with Reno he probably lives in the area, possibly near the UNR campus.
"Somewhere in our community there is a wife, a mom, a girlfriend, a sister who recognizes this suspect," Johns said. "Likely he looks like somebody you would least suspect, but that is the person who is responsible for this crime.
Johns remained hopeful that the owner of the "Pink Panther" thong panties will recognize that they are missing and come forward with information that might hold the key to the rapist-killer’s identity. Meanwhile, the perpetrator of these heinous crimes remains at large.
