In the late 1990s, McDermott had been dating porn actress Kathryn B. Gannon, also known as "Marylyn Star." McDermott passed insider secrets to Gannon, who then told another boyfriend, Anthony Pomponio. McDermott did not act on the information, but Gannon and Pomponio each made more than $80,000.
