No. 10 - Etan Patz, Missing Since 1979

Etan Patz
In May 1979, 6-year-old Etan Patz left his New York City home to walk to the bus stop two blocks away. It was the first time he had been allowed to make the trip on his own. When he did not return home from school that day, his mother called the police, who discovered that Etan never arrived at the bus stop that morning. A citywide search was launched to find the boy, and his face became one of the first to be featured on the back of a milk cartoon. Etan was never found, but his case gained national attention for the issue of missing kids.
