Folger was a well-known debutante and heiress to the Folger coffee fortune; she was the great-great-granddaughter of J.A. Folger, the founder of Folger’s Coffee. Folger and her significant other, Wojciech Frykowski, were close friends with Tate and Polanski, and lived in the Cielo Drive home (the site of the murders) in the months leading up to their death. The couple had agreed to keep Tate (who was eight-and-a-half months pregnant) company until Polanski returned from Europe on Aug. 18. With Frykowski, Folger tried to escape the house when the "Family" attacked, but did not succeed. She was stabbed 28 times and died at the age of 26 on Aug. 9. Folger's funeral was held in a church built by her grandparents and she is buried in Colma, Calif. |
