One of the most important UFO close encounters occurred at Falcon Lake, Manitoba, Canada, in 1967.
While exploring the area for metals, amateur geologist Stephen Michalak observed two red, glowing objects flying overhead. One of them landed 150 feet away from him and began to change color from red to orange and finally to gray. Michalak could smell sulphur and hear a strange hissing sound, so he decided to approach the craft. A door opened and two voices were heard from inside the UFO. Michalak called out in English and then in several other languages, but still no response came. He began to look at the exterior of the craft when heat was vented through an opening. This set Michalak's shirt and vest on fire, leaving him in a great deal of pain as the craft flew off at great speed.
Michalak was very ill for days, suffering headaches, nausea and pain from the gridlike burns on his chest. He was examined by dozens of doctors and interviewed by many government officials. Michalak never made any money from his story and he shunned publicity. No conclusive evidence was found to debunk his account of the events of that day and his case is accepted as genuine by many UFO researchers.
