A couple is asleep in their home on Christmas morning. The man awakes and complains to his wife that he’s having chest pains. He then passes out and appears to be dead. The wife calls 911. She is told by the operator that she MUST get the husband out of bed because doing CPR on a bed is ineffective. Though the husband is much larger than the wife, she is able to push him off the bed into a small space between the bed and wall. She is taught over the phone how to do CPR, which she does successfully until paramedics arrive.
A woman in El Paso, Texas, calls 911 on Christmas Eve and says she’s distraught because she cannot afford to buy any presents for her children. The operator decides to help. She begins calling fire stations all over the city and amazingly, several of the stations say they have presents and offer to help. Within a few hours, the operator has gathered more than a dozen presents for the kids and the fire chief himself ends up delivering the presents to the woman and her children.
