THERE ARE ALWAYS MORE BODIES

Part of that emotional high a serial killer craves after being caught and facing the iron fist of justice is taking pleasure in the fact that he — alone — knows there are more bodies out there with his mark on them. In his time (if ever), he will use the location of those bodies as a trump card in dealing with law enforcement. For the serial killer, we need to understand, power, control, and those moments between life and death are his drug — and sooner or later, he is going to need another fix. Many times, that fix comes in the form of him lying back in his bunk, arms folded behind his head, eyes staring at the ceiling, his mind relishing in the idea that he is still in control of making families who don't know where their loved ones are suffer by holding onto the location of additional bodies.

Pathetic and ruthless, really — but that is the reality we deal with when hunting serial murderers.

Take, for example, Chester Turner. Forty-four-year-old Turner, a pizza delivery man by trade, was sentenced to death for murdering ten women and an unborn fetus. Just this past November (2011), Turner was charged with murdering four additional females — that's fourteen women and an unborn child.
