Killer Timelines

Everyone has a life story ... and these guys are no exception. Follow the timelines of some of the most infamous murderers in recent history to see when their lives took an evil turn and how their stories came to an end.

  • Beltway Sniper
Instilling fear in the entire Washington, D.C. area in the fall of 2002, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo shot and killed 10 people and injured three others -- all from the trunk of their car.

    David Berkowitz: Son of Sam
Claiming that a dog made him do it, David Berkowitz instilled fear in all of New York City during his reign of terror.

    Ted Bundy
He confessed to killing 29 women between 1974 and 1978, but that number could be as high as 100.

    Angelo Buono: Hillside Strangler
Working with his cousin Kenneth Bianchi, Angelo Buono raped and killed 10 women in Southern California, leaving their bodies on Los Angeles-area hillsides.

    Andrew Cunanan
Most well known for taking the life of fashion icon Gianni Versace, Andrew Cunanan went on a killing spree in 1997 that shook much of the country. Follow his path of destruction.

    Henry Lee Lucas
Throughout his life, Henry Lee Lucas claimed to kill more than 350, only to recant many of those confessions later. His story is as twisted as the life he led.

    Charles Manson
Perhaps the most famous serial killer in the history of the U.S., Charles Manson and his "family" took the lives of seven during a murderous killing spree that included pregnant actress Sharon Tate.

    Dennis Rader
In 1974, Dennis Rader started killing. Later that year, he became known as the B.T.K. killer, which stands for "Bind them, torture them, kill them". By the time he's arrested in 2005, he's killed at least 10 in fetish-filled fashion.

    Richard Ramirez: Night Stalker
Over a two-year period in the mid-1980s, Richard Ramirez took advantage of the dark of night to commit his hideous crimes -- murdering 14 people.

Gary Leon Ridgway: Green River Killer
Using a photo of his young son as a lure, Gary Leon Ridgway stole the lives of between 48 to 71 women from 1982 to 1984.

    Charles Joseph Whitman
In August of 1966, Charles Whitman killed his wife and mother and then climbed to the top of the University of Texas tower and began shooting at innocent victims below, leaving 14 dead and 31 wounded.
