Outrageous Wills and Last Wishes

signing a contract

McNair Ilgenfritz was a man with great real estate holdings and a passion for writing operas. Unfortunately, he lacked any sort of talent. But when Ilgrenfritz died in 1953 year at 66, he left a bequest: if the Met would perform one of his two operas, the opera company would stand to get about $125,000.
