True Crime with Aphrodite Jones

Case Profile: Ryan Jenkins

A Very Vegas Affair

By Tara Dorfman

From the various young and rambunctious casts of MTV's Real World to the bisexual, companion-seeking Tila Tequila to the infamous spray-tanned gang of the Jersey Shore, reality television is known for attracting some bizarre characters; but perhaps none are more sinister than Ryan Jenkins, a contestant on the kitschy VH1 show, Megan Wants a Millionaire.

After former swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore's naked, mutilated body was found without teeth or fingertips and stuffed in a bloody suit case, authorities declared she had been strangled to death. Eventually the prime suspect, husband Ryan Jenkins, would be found hanging by his own belt from a coat rack in a remote motel in Hope, Canada near Vancouver.

When money, jealousy and lust intertwine, we see just how quickly new found marital bliss can transform into brutal murder.

A Very Vegas Affair

On a quest for fame, 32-year-old Canadian native, Ryan Jenkins, left his hometown of Calgary for Hollywood. The real estate developer and investor worth a reported $2.5 million quickly landed a spot on a new VH1 reality series called Megan Wants a Millionaire. On the show, wealthy bachelors competed for the affection of one high-maintenance and materialistic blonde. After wining and dining blonde beauty, Megan Hauserman, Jenkins quickly earned the nickname "Smooth Operator," frequently dropping cheap pickup lines. Once eliminated from the show, Jenkins began dating former swimsuit model, 28-year-old Jasmine Fiore, whom he met at a casino in Las Vegas. Fiore often worked as a body-painted model at entertainment parties in casinos. On March 28, 2009-just two days after meeting-completely enamored with each other, the two impulsive lovebirds were married in a chapel on the strip.

According to family and friends, even from the beginning the two fought frequently and Jenkins was always jealous of the close relationships Fiore maintained with her ex-boyfriends. No stranger to losing his temper, Jenkins had previously been sentenced to 15 months probation and ordered to attend outpatient treatment for anger management and sexual addiction after hitting a former girlfriend in the arm three years before in 2005. The relationship growing increasingly tumultuous, the two split for a while so things could cool off.

After only a short time apart, the two reconciled and checked in to an up-scale, ocean-side resort together in San Diego for a charity poker tournament. Little did Fiore know, this would be the last trip she would ever make.
